The March Outing 2024 held a gold panning competition which everyone enjoyed.

3/2024 The club had it’s outing at one of the claims, and the highlight of the day was the panning contest. The 2024 Gold Panning Champion is Joe Wallingford.  He retrieved all four small nuggets in just 19.16 seconds...faster than 21 other contestants!  For years, Joe has taught the kids in the Quartzsite After School Program how to pan.  After the contest today he helped some of our own members develop panning skills.  Thanks, Joe, and congratulations!

The February Outing 2024 was a great success with hands on demonstrations….

February 14, 2024 is QMDC’s next club outing

Claim Outings

Many of our outings take place on one of the clubs many mining claims. We usually do a Hobo Stew, Demonstrations, Games, Raffles and just have a great time out in the desert with great people! These FREE outings start about 9:00AM and go until after lunch. You DO NOT need to be a member to attend, so this would be a great opportunity to see what the QMDC is all about.

Keep an eye on our Events Page for up to date info on what is going on and where!

Night Hunt Outing

This is by far one of our most popular events. We meet at the same field that we have our monthly coin hunts and have a great time digging quarters in the dark. Two People, One Detector, One Flashlight, In The Dark.  Need we say more? This is a potluck event, so you'll eat good too! This outing has a fee to participate in the hunt of $10 per team. This outing is typically in December, but be sure to keep an eye out on our Events Page for up to date info!

Special Outings

Sometimes special opportunities come up to go somewhere different than usual. You never know what kind of crazy ideas we might come up with, so be sure to keep an eye out on our Events Page for up to date info!

During 2023 and 2024 season, For those who have contacted Jim K. There is a group site on Jumping Jack that can be worked by our members. In late 2023 Jim K. and Dave ran a dry washing clinic on this claim that was enjoyed by a large number of members learning additional techniques to increase the usefulness of their metal detectors. Thank you to Jim and Dave, and all of those who brought out dry washing equipment for everyone to use. What a great day for everyone participating.
